Talla (F15) is a young male golden eagle, collected on the 15th of June 2023 from Ardverikie Estate in the central Highlands. The collection team included project team members, raptor worker Dave Pierce and climbers Jon Brain and Dominic McAdam.
Talla was adopted and named by the Borders Forest Trust after their Talla Valley rewilding project. BFT took ownership of Talla in 2013 and has been the focus of extensive native tree planting and peatland restoration.
Young male Spirit (G26) was collected from a crag nest on the Isle of Mull on the 30th June, making him the last eagle to be collected during the summer 2023 translocations. He was also the smallest eagle of the year, weighing in at 3.75kg at his release.
Donald (F47) is a young male eagle who was collected from a very accessible low crag in Tayside and Fife on the 7th June 2023. No climbers were required at this site as it was possible to walk up to this eyrie due to its remote and undisturbed location.
Maple (F24) is a young male eagle translocated from a tree nest on the beautiful Strathspey Estate on the 22nd June. After sharing an aviary with another young male Talla (F15), he was released on 19th July weighing 3.8kg.
It is with great sadness that we must report the disappearance of Merrick (F43), a young female golden eagle from the 2022 summer releases.
